Compounding or composition is the word-formation process of creating compound lexemes by combining or putting together old words (such as in fireman or hardware). The meanings of the words interrelate in such a way that a new meaning comes out which is very different from the meanings of the words in isolation.

Expressing compounds in the UNLarium

In the UNLarium framework, compounds are only expressed if the lemma is different from the base form, i.e., in case of discontinuous multi-word expressions or with infixation (such as "give in" or "take into account"). Compounds are always expressed by subcategorization rules.
